Interpreting Our Heritage: An Afternoon with Marjorie Shaw Jeffries

WHEN: Sunday, March 14, 2010 at 3:00PM - 4:30PM
WHERE: Blithewold Mansion

Enjoy an afternoon at Blithewold, and hear the music that was once enjoyed by the Van Wickle family.  Marjorie Shaw Jeffries, granddaughter of Bessie McKee, will perform original flute music pieces that were once favorites of her aunt, Marjorie Lyon.  Take advantage of this unique opportunity to listen as Ms. Jeffries interprets her heritage as the daughter of Augustine Van Wickle and Quincy Adams Shaw.  She will share her memories of Blithewold and of her close relationship to her aunt Marjorie.

Marjorie Shaw Jeffries studied music at Bryn Mawr College, specializing in flute performance.  She later studied Harmony and Music Theory at Wellesley College, and Music Composition at Connecticut College.  The music played at this event will include music written for Marjorie Lyon's 89th birthday party at Blithewold, held in September, 1969.  Refreshments will be served.

Price: $7 Member, $10 Non-member.
