Stories at the Sod Bench
Blithewold’s gardens are full of creativity, wit, and whimsy, and a perfect (and fun) example is our sod bench! It’s a perfect place to read a story! Parents and kids, wear your garden hats (not much shade at the sod bench) and join us for a storytelling series that will highlight children’s books about gardening! After the story, we will explore the gardens, with a different hands-on garden activity each week. Bring along a blanket (unless you like to sit right on the grass!), your green thumbs, and most importantly, your imagination!
We will meet on the Breakfast Porch during inclement weather. Storybook Time is for children accompanied by an adult. Feel free to stay after and enjoy a picnic lunch!
Books will vary each week (and are subject to change), click here to view some possible titles.
Included in Regular Admission Price. Pay admission at the door.

Sight for sore eyes

You too? I had both wishes fulfilled during one dark, rainy day yesterday. Betsy and I […]
The littlest things

Pretty soon only the biggest bonanzas of blooms and armfuls of harvests will knock our socks off but right now, on the first official day of spring, it doesn’t take much to get us excited. Any evidence of the growing season, no matter how small, is huge. Especially considering there’s snow in our forecast today (ugh-gain), piles of old stuff jammed in […]

Suddenly it seems like it won’t be too long before we see the ground again… Fingers crossed. Is winter on its way out of your garden too?
