Stories at the Sod Bench

WHEN: Friday, June 27, 2014 at 11:00AM - 12:00PM
WHERE: Garden or Breakfast Porch

Blithewold’s gardens are full of creativity, wit, and whimsy, and a perfect (and fun) example is our sod bench! It’s a perfect place to read a story! Parents and kids, wear your garden hats (not much shade at the sod bench) and join us for a storytelling series that will highlight children’s books about gardening! After the story, we will explore the gardens, with a different hands-on garden activity each week. Bring along a blanket (unless you like to sit right on the grass!), your green thumbs, and most importantly, your imagination!

We will meet on the Breakfast Porch during inclement weather. Storybook Time is for children accompanied by an adult. Feel free to stay after and enjoy a picnic lunch!

Books will vary each week (and are subject to change), click here to view some possible titles.

Included in Regular Admission Price. Pay admission at the door.

  • North Garden inventory (Jul 17, '15)
I’m asked often enough to name my favorite plant and season that it’s a little strange that hardly anyone* ever asks which is my favorite garden. Not that I could possibly pick a favorite (the pollinator garden). But since I featured the Rose Garden (my other favorite) last week, I can’t let this week go by without giving Blithewold’s pièce de […]
  • Rose Garden inventory (Jul 10, '15)
Thank goodness for rainy days. Without them, we stay outside and never get around to tidying the potting shed, defrosting the fridge, or keeping up with the paperwork. (Not to mention how happy the gardens are after a good downpour.) I’m grateful too that Betsy worked on the blog last week because aside from the pleasure of seeing Blithewold’s gardens […]
