Stories at the Sod Bench
Blithewold’s gardens are full of creativity, wit, and whimsy, and a perfect (and fun) example is our sod bench! It’s a perfect place to read a story! Parents and kids, wear your garden hats (not much shade at the sod bench) and join us for a storytelling series that will highlight children’s books about gardening! After the story, we will explore the gardens, with a different hands-on garden activity each week. Bring along a blanket (unless you like to sit right on the grass!), your green thumbs, and most importantly, your imagination!
We will meet on the Breakfast Porch during inclement weather. Storybook Time is for children accompanied by an adult. Feel free to stay after and enjoy a picnic lunch!
Books will vary each week (and are subject to change), click here to view some possible titles.
Included in Regular Admission Price. Pay admission at the door.

It’s awfully hard to feel optimistic about spring when the snow is knee-deep and deeper and the temperatures are in the single digits. It feels for all the world like winter will go on forever. This is what our world looks like right now… Beautiful, yes… But I think most of us are ready to move on. […]

Last week’s blizzard seem to open the gate to a real winter complete with snow storm after snow storm, and hard-core cold. We’re being tested on our ability to stay upright on icy patches, and on keeping our cool when we can’t get where we’re going on time. But we’re also being reminded about what we love about […]
