"Plantiful" Plant Walk

Plant Walks at Blithewold
1– 2:30 p.m.

Join our fun and informal plant walks, each of which will get you familiar with the plants and trees spread over Blithewold’s 33 acres of lawns and gardens. Led by members of our talented professional horticultural staff, the introductory, easy-paced walks cover a variety of topics (see below). On each one you will enjoy learning about various plants, garden topics, habitats, and seasons at Blithewold. Your guide will introduce you to perhaps new-to-you gardening techniques, trees, shrubs, and herbaceous plants as well. People of all ages and levels of gardening experience are welcome. Dress for the weather and wear comfortable walking shoes that can get wet. Come to one, or join them all!

June 8 – “Plantiful” Plant Walk (a tour of Blithewold’s best self-sowers, spreaders, and frost-tender keepers)
With author of the new book Plantiful and Blithewold’s Interpretive Horticulturist Kristin Green

August 3 – Summer Tree and Shrub Walk (walk will focus on tips for planting and watering in the summer heat)
With Director of Horticulture Fred Perry and Assistant Grounds Manager Dan Christina

September 7 – “Plantiful” Plant Walk (a tour of Blithewold’s best self-sowers, spreaders, and frost-tender keepers) With author of the new book Plantiful and Blithewold’s Interpretive Horticulturist Kristin Green

October 5 – Fall Foliage Walk
With Assistant Grounds Manager Dan Christina

November 2 – Pruning Practices and Winter Interest Plant Walk
With Director of Horticulture Fred Perry
