Artist Workshop: Judit Kollo - Music of the Winds: Sculpture Embraces Horticulture
The coast of New England provides sometimes gentle, sometimes strong ocean winds. But wind is more than just a natural phenomenon. It is one of the greatest song writers of all times and to hear its songs we only need to know how to listen.
Join artist Judit Kollo as she teaches us how to appreciate the Music of the Wind. Students will make wind chimes and wind instruments by combining pre-fired pottery and ceramics beads with shells found on the beach. As they put their chimes together, students will gain insight into the structural mechanism of the wind instruments, learning to tune it to their own taste and thus come up their personal translation of wind into gentle melodies.
This workshop will take place in an outdoor studio space on the grounds.

It’s awfully hard to feel optimistic about spring when the snow is knee-deep and deeper and the temperatures are in the single digits. It feels for all the world like winter will go on forever. This is what our world looks like right now… Beautiful, yes… But I think most of us are ready to move on. […]

Last week’s blizzard seem to open the gate to a real winter complete with snow storm after snow storm, and hard-core cold. We’re being tested on our ability to stay upright on icy patches, and on keeping our cool when we can’t get where we’re going on time. But we’re also being reminded about what we love about […]
