Pastel Landscapes and Seascapes
with Artist Davison Bolster
Saturday | October 4 – 25
10 AM – 1 PM
Location: Education Space

Join local artist Davison Bolster to develop your skills with the dreamy medium of pastels. These classes will be designed for both beginner and intermediate students, with attention to each student’s level. Beginners will learn the history of pastels, how to use them safely, and how to lay out and complete a pastel painting. Using photos as sources, learn many insights into the possibilities of pastels. Those with previous experience will delve into more complicated images and skills. They will also work on larger paintings.

Davison grew up watching his grandfather, Gilbert Davison Johnson, paint pastels, and inherited his many boxes of century-old French pastels upon Gil’s passing in 1967. Over the years, he mastered many other mediums, and finally, in 2022, inspired by the natural beauty of New England, Davison taught himself how to use them.

Students will be responsible for bringing their pastels. Dust masks are suggested. Paper and other supplies will be provided.

Class is limited to 15. Registration is required.
