Color in Action (or How to Stop Worrying and Learn to Mix Color) with Kathrine Lovell
presented by The Handicraft Club
March 29 – May 17
10 AM – 1 PM

In this class we will learn more than just how to mix colors to make the colors you want in your paintings. We will also learn about the interaction of color, the changeable quality of color, how to reliably find your way around your palette, how to mix what you see, and how to see it all better. We will learn a lot of approaches to color theory, including a new approach that helps any artist, in any medium that uses color, make better and more efficient choices with that color. The class will use a series of small projects, along with group discussion, and visual analysis to better understand how colors work, and how to use color within the context of each student’s own creative pursuits. Color theory can be intimidating and stressful. But no one needs stress, so in this class, each lesson is designed to be fun as well as educational. Students can choose any water-based paint (gouache, watercolor, acrylics) to complete the projects. A materials list will be provided by the instructor and imagery for classwork will be inspired by Blithewold walks.

Class Fee: $160
Materials Fee: A materials list will be provided by the instructor.
