Map Reading Class: Basic Orienteering
Saturday, November 4
10 – 11:30 AM
Location: Meet at the Visitors Center
Picture this: You’re in a new town on vacation. You pick up a map showing the area’s shops, museums, and attractions. You open the map, turn it upside down, flip it over, and still don’t know where to start planning your day. This is a class that will familiarize guests with a map. And we’ll show you how to use a compass (or compass app) to do basic navigation. Upon completion, you will be able to use our map to find points of interest on the Blithewold property.
- Guests will be introduced to different maps, their purposes and components, and how to use them.
- Guests will be introduced to different compasses, components to look for on a compass, and how to use them.
- Guests will be introduced to the idea of distance and how to measure and estimate distance.
Preregistration is required. Each class is limited to 10 people.
