Blithewold is a 33-acre summer estate with grand views of Narragansett Bay and is nationally significant in American history as one of the most fully developed and authentic examples of the Country Place Era. The property features a 45-room mansion filled with family heirlooms, and is framed by a series of lovely gardens that range in character from mysterious to exotic and from poetic to practical. The Great Pumpkin Hunt

Friday, October 21, 2016
Blithewold Mansion is offering a unique way to pick your pumpkin this year! Participate in the search for hidden pumpkins on the estate. Each person can take one home to carve. After the hunt, join us for music, food (food trucks will be on site), some hot cider, and a discussion about constellations in the night sky during a special star program around the bonfire. Halloween costumes are encouraged!

Terrariums and Tea Leaves

Create a striking, long-lasting terrarium for yourself, or as a perfect holiday gift, using a variety of plants as well as decorative items such as stones and crystals. An overview of each type of plant will precede the crafting. Guests will also have the option to having a tarot card or tea leaf reading. Wine and refreshments will be served.

Register early, since space is limited. Price includes all materials.

Afternoon Tea in the Dining Room

Afternoon Tea is available at both 1:00 pm and 3:00 pm Tuesday – Friday from November 25 until December 30.
The Dining Room at Blithewold has always been a place where fine meals have been served to cherished guests. Today friends gather and exchange stories while delighting in a cup of tea, freshly baked scones with sweet cream, and a
3-tiered tray filled with sweet and savory treats. Simply luxurious!

The Van Wickle family hosted many parties and celebrations at Blithewold. One of the most notable celebrations was Marjorie Van Wickle and George Lyon’s wedding, which took place on June 1, 1914, in an elegant outdoor ceremony in Blithewold’s Enclosed Garden.
