Weekly Details:

Spirit Week (July 16 – July 20) We are kicking off the summer at Camp Sequoia in a big way! Check off many summer bucket-list activities in one week as we explore the Mansion and our beaches, bamboo forest and garden activities, go on picnics, run watermelon relay races, play Capture the Flag and even recreate the Bristol Fourth of July parade. Campers will have the opportunity to design our camp flag, name our camp fish, and wear fun themed clothing each day (Tie-Dye Tuesday, Wacky Wednesday, Throwback Thursday, Team Spirit Friday… More details about the spirit theme clothing will be sent home on the first day of camp.)

Life at Sea (July 23 – 27) Get ready to immerse yourself in the diverse and amazing ecosystem of Narragansett Bay!  Experience hands-on exploration in our fascinating shore-side habitats, and enjoy tidepooling, seine fishing and learning about how seaside animals live. We will explore the exciting Volvo Ocean Race and study ways to prevent pollution. Campers will get creative making seashell murals and other crafts that celebrate various creatures of the sea.

Theater Week (July 30 – Aug 3) Lights! Cameras! Action! Join us this week for some theatrical fun, including acting lessons, special guests, costume making, music, role playing, art al fresco, creative writing and garden expeditions. The week will end with an original camp theatrical production put on for our family and friends.

Beach Week (August 6 – 10) Celebrate everyone’s favorite summer activity — going to the beach! Not only will we enjoy fun beach activities, we will also learn about ocean conservation efforts. Children will gain field experience through exploration, making sea-inspired art, and creative games focusing on animals and their habitats. We’ll have beach picnics, water games, a beach clean-up, and treasure hunts, and we’ll talk about pirates, mermaids, and more!

The Land of Make Believe (August 13 – 17) Blithewold is a magical place! Campers will be encouraged to bring their imagination to camp this week — it will be filled with forts and fairies, wizards, science experiments, magic and surprises! Campers will search for frogs, insects and flowers, create their very own herbal potions, write their own fairy tales, and even get to create fairy or gnome houses in the gardens.

Junior Picassos (August 20 – 24) The majestic gardens and grounds of Blithewold are true inspiration for budding artists! This week, Junior Picassos will enjoy art al fresco, nature art projects, culinary arts, floral design, saltwater painting at the beach, a sand-castle contest, sculpting, music, and photography, all while learning about artists from around the world.
